Beautiful Mate Bird

Beautiful Mate Bird
How do we, as a species, appreciate beauty?

Beauty can be anything. A bird perched on a flower, a forest canopy, music, another person or anything else we as humans call “beauty.”

But:

WHAT – IS – BEAUTY?

What is it about “beauty” that triggers pleasurable sensations in our brains? How did it develop from our ancestors? Some could be understood, such as finding an attractive person to be beautiful (signifying health and fertility in a mate) or seeing a collage of bright colors (signifying a potential food source), so to speak. But what about the gentle melodies of a song? Or an abstract painting? Or a poem? How did we as a species develop to comprehend the concept of “beauty”? What does it mean to us as a species, and how did it affect us as a civilization?

Food for thought.

Scientists have been studying beauty for a long time, it’s still a mystery. Personally I think that it has something to do with those things in nature which benefit us the most.
